1. Tournament Name: 2020 World Amateur Women’s Go Championship in Tokyo

6. Venue: The Nihon Ki-in (Tokyo) *Location: 7–2 Gobancho Chiyoda-ku Tokyo, Japan
7. Schedule: 1 to 8 May, 2020
8. Competitors: Players from the IGF Member countries and territories
9. Tournament Methods:
1) 8-round Swiss system.
2) All games to be played on even, with Black giving a 6½-point komi.
3) Time allowance is 60 minutes per player, followed by byo-yomi of 30 seconds x 3 times.
*Tournament clocks will be used for all games.
4) The competition will be conducted in accordance with The World Amateur Go Championship
Rules. *Any problems that arise will be settled by the referees.
5) The referees will be professional go players from the Nihon Ki-in and the Kansai Ki-in.
10. Awards:
1) The winner will be given the title of ‘2020 World Amateur Women’s Go Champion’
2) All of the 2nd to the 8th place players will receive prizes with cup or trophy.
Supplementary Notes
1. Nationality
Each player must have the nationality of the country she represents.
2. Applicant Eligibility
Each player must be an amateur and female go player.
A certified pro by a national or federal Go organisation (including EGF and AGA) will not be
eligible to this Championship. The former pro (e.g. retired pro) will also not be eligible to the
Championship. The currently amateur player who will be either formally or informally
approved or certified as a pro earlier than 2 May 2020 will not be eligible to this Championship.
3. Travel and Accommodation Expenses (during the event)
We shall be responsible for the following expenses for the players of 2020 WAWGC in Tokyo.
- Transportations to and from Haneda or Narita international airport
- Accommodation: 7 nights stay from 1 to 8 May 2020 (*check-in: 1 May, check-out: 8 May)
- Meals: from dinner on 1 May to breakfast on 8 May
*Important notes: We’ll have no responsible for any extra expenses including the followings:
-A player will be responsible for her travel expenses (e.g. air ticket) by herself to get to Japan
(Tokyo) and to return home or so.
-A player who for reasons of her own convenience will arrive in earlier than 1 May and/or
stay longer than 7 May will by herself be responsible for all extra expenses incurred.
4. Registration
Player(s) and her companion are requested to return the following documents to the
Tournament Office by 5 January 2020. (*The late entry may not be acceptable without your
prior notice)
(i) Completed entry form (using the attached document)
(ii) Face photo (*must be more than 100KB, good quality jpg colour digital photo)
(iii) Copy of passport (the page or pages clearly showing nationality)
*In case that you have multiple nationalities, please send a copy of the passport for the
country which you are representing.
5. Accommodations: Hotel Tokyo Green Palace (*

*Whether arriving in Japan at Narita or Haneda, players are requested to check in at the above
official hotel designated by the Tournament Office.
6. Schedule:
- 1 May: Arrival at Haneda or Narita international airport, Check-in our designated hotel
- 2 May: Orientation, International goodwill match, Opening ceremony and Reception party
- 3 to 6 May: 8 round Swiss system tournament
- 6 June: Closing and Award Ceremony
- 7 June: TBD (*farewell closing dinner is planned at least)
- 8 June: Departure from Tokyo/end of official schedule
* Note that the details of the schedule will be announced soon or later.
7. Obligations
All players and guest officials are obligated to participate in all official events such as the
goodwill match and ceremonies (i.e. opening and closing)
8. Companion Package Fee
For a companion who will accompany the player, we will offer a companion a package fee as
JPY 90,000 (*Note that the price may be subject to change and the payment can be only
accepted by cash).
The package fee will include accommodation (*7 nights’ stay of 1-7 May 2020), lunch meals
(at the tournament venue), opening reception (2 May) and closing dinner (7 May)
Please note that a companion of a player who is 15 years old or younger (as of 1 May 2020)
may not be requested to pay for the above package fee.
11. Important Points
1) Players or guest officials who commit any of the following infringements may have their
participation in the tournament cancelled:
(i) Non-arrival of entry form at the Tournament Office by the deadline
(ii) False entries on the entry form
(iii) Neglecting to send face photo and photocopy of passport
(iv) Failure to check in at the designated hotel on 1 May 2020
2) If you need an official invitation and/or a guarantee from the Tournament Office to leave
your country, please check what documents are necessary at your nearest Japanese
embassy, and note this in the appropriate column on the entry form. Please note that
while in principle we will include in the official invitation the dates of arrival in and
departure from Japan that you request, we will be responsible for your expenses only for
the period as noted earlier in this paper.
3) Please refrain from wearing clothing such as short pants, sandals, jeans, T-shirts,
sunglasses or similar items at all events.
4) A formal or semi-formal dress will be requested at the opening ceremony in 2 May
because it will be held at a five-star hotel in Tokyo.
5) Any questions should be directed in English to the Tournament Office by email (or Fax).
