1. European Go Grand Slam Tournament

Післязавтра починається дуже цікавий турнір в Берліні: "1. European Go Grand Slam Tournament": http://www.eurogofed.org/EuropeanGrandP ... m2015.html
Для участі в турнірі відібрано 12 учасників з 9 країн, серед яких четверо європейських професіоналів. Приємно, що в цю дванадцятку гравців входять аж два українці (Андрій Кравець та Артем Качановський).
В день буде проходити лише один тур і обов'язково будуть трансляції партій. Ігри будуть проходити за китайськими правилами.
Система турніру попередньо задумувалась так, що в перший день будуть грати лише 8 гравців (без 4-х європейських професіоналів: Шикшина, Лисого, Джабаріна і Сурми). Ті, хто програє в перший день, вибувають з цього турніру і приєднуються до Китайського Кубку, який буде проходити там же (http://turniere.govb.de/ccb/news.php). А основна боротьба за призи в Грандслемі розгорнеться між тими, хто виграв у перший день та чотирма європейськими професіоналами.
Орієнтовно жеребкування на перший тур буде таким:

The Grand Slam Berlin is hosted by the Chinese Culture Center in Berlin, Germany. Day 1 started ofcourse with the opening of the tournament.

Among the many guests some important sponsors and officials from China.Also former European Champion Günter Cießow, the creator of the European Go Congress concept and author of one of the most famous history Go-books "Felix Dueball, ein Go-Pionier aus Berlin" was there.The pairing was done by the European Go Federation president Mr. Martin Stiassny and the president of the Berlin Go association Mr. Bernhard Runge.The result of the pairing for the preliminary round was:

board 1: Ondrej Silt 6d - Alexandre Dinerchtein 3p
board 2: Christian Pop 7d - Fredrik Blomback 6d
board 3: Viktor Lin 6d - Artem Kachanovskyii 6d
board 4: Andrii Kravets 6d - Catalin Taranu 5p

On board 4 Catalin Taranu 5p from Romania started great, move after mover the influence of his stones became greater and greaten and meanwhile he was even far ahead in territory it looked.Then suddenly, when the bigger middle game slowly transformed to the early endgame an wrong plan was was adapted and move after move he was suddenly pushing Andrii into his own territoy....His lead was gone and all his fighting had made Andrii's groups only stronger. There was nothing left....

On board 2 Fredrik Blomback 6d from Sweden faced up with Christian Pop 7d. Right from the start a big corner fight was started, but not really finished. It was a kind of sacrefice joseki. To me, a very weak 1d player, these kind of sacrefices are hard to get. Why dont invest 1 move and finish it of? No these giants dont even consider playing a gote move. Both were cutting their opponant each time they had the change, in a ultimate race t for center control. So, there were some groups with no or only 1 eye...and , who can think of this..., there was a ko... Fredrik lost the corner, but nothing was descided...fight for the center, ko, other corners..Fredrik raised the stakes. So did Christian! Both players were All-in....

Meanwhile, on board 3 it was the dark horse Viktor Lin 6d from Austria who had the impossible task to fight with Superboy Artem Kachanovskyii 6d. Both players are known for doing normal, sensible moves and slowly building up strong postions.

What was to expect happened, both players were in their bunkers, concrete was all over the board.

Viktor looked ahead, but during the (great) lunch, he was sad, because in his eyes Artems single last move killed all his groups and stole all his territory!?!

This could not be true, Viktor found the courage to continue and when the endgame came to the end, all the kibitzers on the internet agreed....Viktor would win!

Viktor however didnt want only to give free hugs, he also wanted to give Artem a free point and made a unbeliveble blunder and lost by 1.5 points....

So, there was only one game not finished. Ondrej Silt 6d from the Czech Republic had to face Mr. Trick Joseki Alexandre Dinerchtein 3p.

It took 2(!!!!) moves and the first *wtf* and *what is this* expressions were seen in the chat.....Within 15 moves a trick joseki was on the board....

Ondrej took it all like a man. He was the first player who arrived at the playing area. Fresh, clean, bright eyes, as fit as i ever seen him!All moves were made on 1 side of the board!

Bets were made which player would "dare" to play on the other side. Discussions if that player would win, or would lose....

Here too a sacrifice corner joseki was played...Alexandre sacrefied some corner stones in exchange for a sente move, but still the stones had some aji in them.

95 Moves and still all moves at 1 side of the board.
Alexandr plays in the opposite corner and 2 moves later he has 6 groups, from which 1 is dead for now. Ondrej has 4 groups, all strong, but 2 still not living...
Both players were using their time well. Ondrej enterd the 5 times 60 seconds byo yomi first and only when he had only 1 period left also Alexandre entered overtime.

Alexandre also got to the point he had only 1 period....

After 6.5 hours of playing(!) Alexandre was able to convert the aji of the sacrified corner stones into a huge ko.

For the players who finished their games and all interested local Go-players there were some game reviews/comments by the modest and oh so sympathic Baolong Zhou 2p from China.So everything was great?

No....sad to say the upload capacity from the internet was not up to the EuroGoTV desired minimal standard(minimal 1mb/s upload per board).

Did you not test it HW9x9 you might ask...Yes, good question...

I did test it the day before. I tested all the ports and cable connections. Everything worked fine, but........I DID NOT TEST THEM ALL TOGETHER.........I am very sorry and also a bit ashamed.....

Жеребкування проводилось не за рейтингом, як ми думали раніше, а методом витягування номерів. Вірніше, поділили 8 учасників за рейтингом на дві підгрупи, а уже в підгрупах тягнули номери. Відповідно 1-й номер з верхньої підгрупи грав з 1-м номером з нижньої, і т.д.

Перед початком турніру чехи провели цікаві дослідження з приводу визначення шансів на програші і за цим показником ранжирували всіх учасників, тобто створили прогноз розподілу місць:

На даний час прогноз поки що підтверджується і четверо найнижчих у цьому списку вибули з гри. Подивимось як цей прогноз буде збуватись далі.

Обидно, но Андрей проиграл Илье Шикшину.
Все-таки даже европейские про это тоже про.

Артем проиграл другом европро - Али Джабарину 10,5 очков.



Насколько я понимаю теперь они еще могут побороться с другими проигравшими за места с 3 по 8.
Так что 15 тыщ евро уже не увезём, но не всё еще потеряно. Продолжаем следить.
