The portuguese Go community is small but friendly. We are expecting a small number of beginners, a few dan level players but mostly people in between. Whatever is your case, you are very welcome to come and enjoy the city and the tournament.

Porto is connected to major european cities by daily flights (route map at the end of this message), some of them operated by low cost companies. Accommodation is affordable and the city is now a major touristic destination - a lovely place indeed.

We are pleased to announce that we are going to hold the 13th World Students Go Oza Championship from Feb 23 to 27, 2015 in Tokyo, Japan.
16 students from around the world will come together in Japan to decide the world’s number one student player.

To select the 16 students, we are going to have an online preliminary round on Pandanet.

the deadline for the "Early fee" registration to the Pisa International Go Tournament 2015 (Pisa-IGT) will expire on January 20th!

Pisa-IGT is the side tournament to the European Pro Qualification 2015. Both events will take place in Pisa, Italy, from 6 to 8 March 2015.

We would like to announce that the European Women's Championship 2015 will take place on 11-12 July in Çıralı Antalya.
Çıralı is one hour drive west of Antalya and is a small holiday town. It is a doubly protected area, once for being an archeological site of the ruins the city of Olympos and Temple of fire at Chimerea and second a natural reserve for being the egg laying place of Caretta caretta, giant sea turtles. Thanks to these two properties there are no huge, ugly hotels in this area. Instead there are "pansiyons" with comfortable, air conditioned and en suite bungalows blended in orange orchards. The venue is Kıyı pansiyon: http://www.kiyipansiyon.com/English.htm
We are happy to announce that 1 official representative from each European country (EGF rank 5 kyu or stronger) will have free accommodation and food at Kıyı pansiyon from 10th friday to 13th monday July 2015. We will also supply free transfers from antalya airport to the tournament site on friday afternoon and back on monday morning.
The Turkish summer camp is combined to this event starting from 3rd of July to the 10th and the details about prices and program of the camp will be announced in a short time.
Please let us know if you will send a representative or not before 1st of march. The actual name of the representative can be registered later, until 1st of July.
There is a website with details under construction. We will let you know as soon as possible that it is online.

Announcement of the World Wide Iwamoto Awards 2015

The European Go Centre is happy to announce the World Wide Iwamoto Awards. In succession to the European editions in 2001, 2003, 2007 and 2012, the Iwamoto Awards now go global. Thanks to internet and social media, the world has become smaller, so we think it is time to invite people on a global scale to submit Go promotion projects.
These projects are collected in our public database. With this information everybody who is involved in the promotion of Go can find new ideas and inspiration for their own projects. The winner of the award will receive € 1.000, two runners up will receive € 500.
