Dear representatives of European Go Associations,

The website of the 25th EYGC (https://eygc2020.hgos.hr/) has been active for three months and represents the main source of information and the tool for registration (https://eygc2020.hgos.hr/registration/). Please note that the registration of ALL participants (including non-players) is mandatory. Any change of data, including withdrawing the registration, is always possible.

As of 22nd Frebruary 2020, 18 days before the tournament, we have 203 registered players from 18 countries (91 in the group U12, 72 in the group U16, 40 in the group U20), and 131 registered accompanying persons. The number of registered players coming from abroad is 160 - such interest did not happen since 2004. The size of groups from certain countries (Russian Federation, Romania, Ukraine, U.K.) shows that the interest for Go among youth is rising in Europe. It is to be noticed that Turkey is participating in a EYGC for the first time.

Measured by the number of dan-rated players, all age-groups are very strong. Top games in each age group will be broadcast on KGS.
For the first time, the EYGC will be broadcast on the official EGF Twitch-channel.



As expected, the hotel Matija Gubec (fully dedicated to Go in the period of EYGC) is booked. We found additional capacity for 90 people in the hotel Zagi. In addition, we reserved some capacity of the hotel Terme Jezercica with the special Go-price for expected future registrations. A couple of rooms and several bungalows are still available.

We will organize shuttle transport from the Zagreb Airport to the hotel Matija Gubec.

SCHEDULE:

The opening ceremony on Wednesday, 11th March 2020, will include Prize Giving for the best teams in the European Youth Team Championships, played on KGS. We congratulate to the youth team of Germany for winning the EYGTC!

The Team Leaders Meeting (after dinner on the same day) will be used to check the lists of players from each country.

The Round 1 will start on Thursday, 12th March 2020, at 10:00.

In order to start the round on time, the following rules will be applied:
all players must register on-line at least 24 hours before the start of the Round 1, i.e. by 11th March 2020 10:00 AM
all players timely registered on-line must show-up (with an age and citizenship confirming document) at the playing site at least 1 hour before the start of the Round 1,
i.e. by 12th March 2020 09:00 (the registration will be organized on 11th March as well).

Additionally, in order to get all welcome materials, players should register on-line at least two weeks before the tournament, i.e. by 26th February 2020.

Side events:
============
We plan the "PairGo for Kids at EYGC" tournaments during the first two days of EYGC, for the age groups U12 and U16.
These PairGo-promotional tournaments, supported by Pandanet, will not hinder individual European Youth Go Championships.

Two international workshops will be held:
"How to teach Go" - Thursday, 12th March 2020
"Go in Education" - Friday, 13th March 2020

PRIZES:

European Go Federation and other sponsors provided a nice prize pool for 25th EYGC. In all age groups, only best-placed players can make a choice from the pool provided by EGF.

U12 category:
- 3x WYGC 2020 *
- 2x Hanwha Cup in Korea (the date should be confirmed soon)
- 1x voucher ** for 200 EUR.

U16 category:
- 3x WYGC 2020 *
- 1x voucher ** for 400 EUR.
- 1x voucher ** for 200 EUR.

U20 category:
- 1x Globis Cup 2020 ***
- 1x a wildcard (guaranteed place) for the EC with a voucher** for 300 EUR,
or a voucher ** for 500 EUR without a wildcard (guaranteed place for the EC)
- 1x a wildcard (guaranteed place) for the EC with a voucher** for 100 EUR,
or a voucher ** for 300 EUR without a wildcard (guaranteed place for the EC).

Each player with 5 or 6 wins in any category will get a special prize.
Best girl in each category will get the free accommodation at the SEYGO Tour Summer Go Camp in Zaostrog, Croatia, 29th June - 6th July 2020.


*) World Youth Go Championships (U12 and U16 groups) will be held in Taipei, Taiwan, from 20th to 25th of July 2020. According to the WYGC rules, no player can participate in the same category twice within three years and two players from the same country cannot participate in the same category.

**) Vouchers can be used for teaching / tournament activities. A list of possibilities for using the voucher will be available by the beginning of February 2020.

***) The Globis Cup will be held from 7th to 10th May 2020 in Tokyo. The deadline for sending an application is set to 16th of March 2020 (must be in Japan). All players who are willing to opt for that prize must bring their passport photo and copy of their passport in an electronic format (or to send it in advance to Jana Hricova) and prepare their go CV before the EYGC. Application documents for the Globis Cup 2020 will be sent directly from the EYGC venue.
