.Dear friends,
our Annual General Meeting in Poland will show that we are now at a point with European Go where major changes are ahead. Like in the IGF where the Go-world changed a lot in the last three years we also have to become much more "Professional" than in the past. The attached papers are part of it, but also the motions for the coming AGM show new directions. I welcome all these proposals and I hope that many of yours will follow that we can start "the new EGF" with more publicity, more flexibility, new tasks, in a better quality and also more work, where the EGF needs support. Anyone who wants to invest some time for the new approaches is welcomed in the EGF - and we will have a lot of tasks to do.
Look at the attached documents. There you find a paper about Pair-Go activities which I signed in April. No surprises. More interesting is the paper about the Pandanet Go European Team Championship, which gives us more or less a guarantee that this championship will be continued in the next years, for my feeling a tremendous success, because YOU play with teams each months on Pandanet. Thanks so much for your support on this championship.
The third paper is the contract with our chinese sponsors, organized in the CEGO. Mr. Lü, the president of CEGO, will come to Poland for 9 days, just from the beginning. We all will have enough time to ask questions and Mr. Lü will also join our AGM. This contract is the result of a hard work over many months and I hope you see that some of your concerns are no longer valid. The persons behind CEGO all like Go and the EGF, therefore we skipped all sentences about national laws, lawyers and courts - both sides don't want it.
For sure you will find some parts in the contract which you don't really like. This paper was the best I could get. Whenever you find something in the contract where you disagree, please pause for a moment and reflect about the things, what we could offer to a sponsor for his benefit. It is not so easy to find something and far away from a win-win situation. So please take the contract as that what it is - our chance to spread Go in a better and more effective way than in the past, with many new interesting approaches.
The academic system ("our" Insei-school) will start like planned in October 2013. Li Ting will stay in Beijing just from the beginning to support the start till it's all running smoothly. It is now your chance to nominate promising players for the first season. We have already some candidates, but there are still openings. For this first season we don't want players under 18 years old. So there are three conditions to fulfil:
a) Passport of an EGF-country
b) not older than 25 years, not younger than 18 years old
c) EGD-rating minimum 2500 in the last 12 months
Deadline for this year's nominations: 8th July 2013
Just for information: Only the flight must be paid by the player. The time in Beijing will be about 6 months, from October 2013 to March 2014. The Professional teacher is already known, it will be Mr. Wang Yang, 5p, who will teach nearly daily.
After these 6 months the players should go back to Europe with the chance to play the main tournaments. But that's not the end of their teaching. They will get for additional 3-4 months (April - July) "Online teaching", also nearly daily.
The chinese organizers have some more plans for / with our players, including some PR-activities. We can ask Mr. Lü about it when he will join our Annual General Meeting in Olsztyn.
For the Annual General Meeting we expect as special guest not only Mr. Lü (representing CEGO) but also Mr. Yamashiro, vice-president of the Nihon Kiin and Yuki Shigeno, General secretary of the IGF. For the opening session of the EGC on Saturday the president of the IGF and of the World Pair Go Association, Mr. Matsuura Koichiro will come to Poland.
With the special guests the agenda of the AGM (and especially the order of the topics) must be considered carefully. We have to find a way how to start as early as possible with discussing the important points like the future of the EGF, the new chances and the motions for essential changes in the EGF. Please look at the EGF-webpage, where Tony published the motions: http://www.eurogofed.org/egf/#agm2013. For my feeling we will need a task-force for preparing constitution-changes (after the AGM).

The European Women Go Championship (EWGC) will be played as a 6 round tournament in Leksand from 22nd - 24th July. Yoon Young-Sun, 8p, will be in Leksand for comments. Webpage: http://www.goleksand.org
The EGF got an invitation for nominating 4 European top-players, to play in Seoul against 4 players from US/Canada as a prequalification in the Samsung-Cup, amateurs only. The date: 5 - 7 August (!) 2013. You might imagine how difficult it was to find 4 players for this date. But here they are:

2. Rob van Zeijst, 7d, Netherlands
3. Cristian Pop, 7d, Romania
4. Jan Hora, 6d, Czech Republic
For the SportAccord World Mind Games 2013 in December in Beijing Ilya Shikshin and Svetlana Shikshina are already qualified (European Pair Go Champion). Two more women will qualify in the European Go Women Championship and two men will qualify in a special qualification-tournament in Leksand (20-22. July, see http://www.goleksand.org). Here are the 12 players who were invited based on the rating-list (whole work done by Jana): Fan Hui / Alexandre Dinerchtein / Ondrej Silt / Cristian Pop / Pal Balogh / Lisy Pavol / Benjamin Teuber / Dmitriy Surin / Ali Jabarin / Bohdan Zhurakovskyi / Oleg Mezhov / Dusan Mitic.
The event in Beijing will be a mix of the past events 2011 and 2012. Three competitions, Men team (like 2011) / Women individual / Pair-Go (like 2012). This SportAccord World Mind Games will happen also in 2014, but till now no commitment from any city for 2015ff
Additional there's a plan to hold Mind Sport Games in Russia in the city of Ufa in 2014. The details are not fixed yet.
